Van Unen Miersma Propane Adds Three Delivery Trucks to Fleet, Announces Charity Partnership With Semper Fi Fund
RIPON, Calif., Oct. 20, 2016 — Three new propane delivery trucks will be the centerpieces of Van Unen Miersma Propane’s charity partnership with the Semper Fi Fund, a nonprofit organization benefiting injured and ill service members and their families. For every gallon of propane these trucks deliver, Van Unen Miersma Propane will donate one cent; with each one expected to pump about 750,000 gallons annually, that adds up to $7500 per truck. To celebrate this announcement, the company will be hosting a launch party together with the Semper Fi Fund on November 2nd, 2016 at Mistlin Sports Park in Ripon, CA.
Attending the launch party will be military personnel, politicians and civic leaders, and members of the local fire and police departments. Van Unen Miersma Propane customers are encouraged to turn out and see the gleaming new trucks and participate in the festivities. Seating will be limited, and RSVPs are required.
The launch party is expected to kick off with a welcome address, followed by an opening prayer led by Captain(R) Chuck Roots, a Navy Chaplain and Marine Corps Staff Sgt.(R). Van Unen Miersma Propane CEO Rick Van Unen will discuss the history and mission of the Semper Fi Fund. A short address from U.S. Representative Jeff Denham will precede the presentation of Van Unen Miersma Propane’s donation check, which will show the projected $22,500 that all three new trucks should generate in year one.
With November 10 being the official 241st birthday of the Marine Corps, the Van Unen Miersma Propane and Semper Fi Fund charity partnership launch party will conclude with a traditional cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the birth of the Corps. The traditional passing of cake from the oldest to the youngest Marine demonstrates the passing of the honor, experience, and heart of the Corps to the next generation of Marines to carry on. Refreshments and snacks – including cake – will be available following the 30-minute ceremony, and police and fire department members will be offering vehicle tours.
Van Unen Miersma Propane’s new trucks will be wrapped in U.S. Marine MARPAT camouflage and feature the Semper Fi Fund logo. The partnership will last for the life of the trucks, which should be at least five years.
The Semper Fi Fund was established by a group of Marine Corps spouses in 2004. The organization provides financial assistance and other support to post-9/11 wounded and injured service members from all branches. Since its founding, the Semper Fi Fund has given $136 million to 17,000 heroes and their families. Over 93% of every dollar donated to the Semper Fi Fund goes to their program expenses and the services they deliver.
The charity partnership with the Semper Fi Fund is just one more way that Van Unen Miersma Propane adds value to the communities it serves. Looking ahead, the company anticipates continued growth, which will generate even more opportunities to build great relationships with its customers and partners.
